This staircase was built for North London Collegiate girls’ school in Stanmore during the summer holiday.
The staircase enables access to classrooms on first floor to decrease traffic of kids on the pre-existing internal staircases.
The staircase is a double stair to a half-landing, and then splits left and right up to the balcony.
The stairs were made from 203mmx203mmx46mm UC posts, then cranked 200mmx90mm PFC stringers. 6mm Durbar treads are bolted to the PFC stringers.
Standard handrails were made from 40mmx40mm box posts and 40mmx10mm flat bottom bars, along with 12mmx12mm vertical bars at 100 centres for the balustrades. Finally, everything was painted with black primer and black gloss paint, along with bright yellow paint to mark out the bullnose of the treads as a safety feature.
